Trunk / Liftgate: Description and Operation

WITHOUT KEYLESS ENTRY
When the vehicle is in the "PARK" position and the Rear Compartment Lid Release Switch (Trunk) is pressed, voltage is supplied through CKT 56 by the switch. The Rear Compartment Lid Lock Release Actuator is energized releasing the Rear Compartment When the vehicle is in a "NON-PARK" position the Rear Compartment Lid Lock Release Actuator is inactive and the Rear Compartment cannot he released.

WITH KEY LESS ENTRY
When the vehicle is in "PARK," voltage is supplied to the Rear Compartment Lid Release Relay through CKT 275. When the "REAR COMPARTMENT" button on the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Transmitter is pressed, ground is supplied to the Rear Compartment Lid Release Relay through CKT 253. The Solenoid (within the Rear Compartment Lid Release Relay) is energized and the Rear Compartment Lid Release Relay contacts (within the Rear Compartment Lid Release Relay) closes which in turn, sends voltage through CKT 56 to the Rear Compartment Lid Lock Release Actuator. When the Rear Compartment Lid Lock Release Actuator is energized the Rear Compartment releases. When the vehicle is in a "NON-PARK" position the Rear Compartment Lid Lock Release Actuator is not energized and the Rear Compartment cannot he released.
