Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC)

The Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) is a microprocessor controlled device that is responsible for controlling the UART data line as well as various telltales and gages. Much of the display information given by the IPC is supplied via serial communication. Pontiac and Chevrolet Instrument Panel Clusters have the following features and functions:

The gages include:

^ Analog display fuel gage
^ Analog display engine coolant temperature gage
^ Season odometer
^ Trip odometer (Up-level only)
^ Tachometer (Up-level only)

The Displays include:
^ Electronic PRNDL display (3-speed automatic only - P R N D 2 1)
^ Electronic PRNDL display (4-speed automatic only - P R N D 3 2 1)
