Trunk / Liftgate: Description and Operation

Voltage is applied from Fuse 2 in the IP Junction Block, through the rear compartment lid release relay, to the rear compartment lid release switch. The switch is grounded through the park/neutral position switch when the gear selector lever is in PARK. When the rear compartment lid release switch is pressed, the relay energizes actuates the rear compartment lid release solenoid. The solenoid releases the rear compartment lid.

The rear compartment lid release relay can also he actuated, regardless of the valet switch position, using the keyless entry transmitter. The Remote Function Actuator (RFA) module provides a ground path to actuate the relay when the rear compartment lid release button on the transmitter is pressed.
