Troubleshooting Hints - Exterior Lights
PERFORM BEFORE BEGINNING SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS1. If the Turn Lamps do not work, check TURN B-U Fuse 2.
2. If the Stop/Hazard Lamps do not work, check STOP/HAZARD Fuse 1.
3. For any of the following symptoms replace the Turn Hazard Switch Assembly:
- Turn/Hazard Switch Assembly will not turn.
- All Turn/Hazard/Stoplamps are inoperative and C216 is firmly mated.
- Some turn Lamps work and all Hazard Lamps work.
- Some Hazard Lamps work and all Turn Lamps work.
- Hazard Lamps do not turn "OFF"
4. If a Turn Indicator stays on (does not flash) when operating either left or right Turn Signal, check the Park/Turn Lamp and the Tail/Stop/Turn Lamp on that side for open or poor connection.
- Always suspect an open lamp filament before proceeding with diagnostics.
- Make sure lamp connections are free from corrosion.
- Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause system malfunction but prove "GOOD" in a continuity/voltage check with a system disconnected. These circuits may be intermittent or resistive when loaded, and if possible, should be checked by monitoring for a voltage drop with the system operational (under load).
- Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems (refer to Troubleshooting Procedures). Diagnostic Aids
- Make sure all lamps are operational before replacing flashers.
- Refer to System Diagnosis.
