Condenser HVAC: Service and Repair

Condenser Mounting:






Tool Required:
J 39500 A/C Refrigerant Recovery, Recharging, and Recycling Station

Remove or Disconnect

1. Negative battery cable.
2. Recover the A/C system.
3. Hood latch assembly. (Scribe position of attaching nuts to ensure that latch is installed in same position as taken off).
4. Hood latch support assembly.
5. Condenser outlet line. Discard O-ring seals.
6. Condenser inlet line and retaining clamp on radiator side tank. Discard O-ring seals.
7. Retaining bolts from radiator.
8. Condenser. (Remove condenser while lifting upward and turning slightly in a counter-clockwise direction).

Install or Connect

1. Condenser. (Install while turning condenser slightly in a clockwise direction).

Tighten
^ Screws to 6 N.m (53 lb in).

2. Condenser inlet line and retaining clamp, using new O-ring seals.

Tighten
^ Fitting to 28 N.m (21 lb ft).

3. Condenser outlet line, using new O-ring seals.

Tighten
^ Fitting to 28 N.m (21 lb ft).

4. Hood latch support.
5. Hood latch assembly. (Line up scribe marks as mentioned previously, for proper hood alignment).
6. Evacuate and charge A/C system.
7. Leak test.
8. Negative battery cable.

Tighten
^ Bolt to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).
