System Operation

ARMING
To arm the content theft deterrent system:
1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
2. Remove key from the ignition lock cylinder.
3. Open the driver's door.
4. While the driver's door is open, press lock on either power door lock switch, or the keyless entry transmitter.

The security indicator lamp flashes while the driver door is open. Then, the lamp turns on steadily while the driver's door is closed when the content theft deterrent system enters the arming mode. Finally, the lamp flashes continuously at a slow rate when the content theft deterrent system is armed.

Refer to Theft Deterrent Arm/Disarm Modes for procedures on enabling or disabling the lock switch arming feature.

DISARMING
Two ways to disarm the content theft deterrent system:
^ Unlock either door by using key in the key lock cylinder.
^ Press unlock on a keyless entry transmitter.

Refer to Theft Deterrent Arm/Disarm Modes for procedures on enabling or disabling the key lock cylinder disarming feature.

ALARM
The content theft deterrent sets off the alarm when one of these conditions is met while the system is armed:
^ Opening any door.
^ Turning the ignition switch to the ACC or RUN position.
^ Removing the rear compartment lock cylinder from the rear compartment lid.
^ Impacting the vehicle in excess of the precalibrated level of the shock sensor.
^ Pressing alarm on the keyless entry transmitter.

During alarm mode, the content theft deterrent system alternates between headlamp flashing and sounding the horn for 2 minutes.

Refer to Theft Deterrent/Shock Sensor Modes for procedures on enabling or disabling the shock sensor.

WARNING
If the shock sensor detects an impact to the vehicle, the content theft deterrent system alternates between five headlamp flashes and sounding the horn.

Refer to Shock Sensor Adjustment for procedures on adjusting the shock sensor sensitivity. [1][2]Adjustments

Refer to Theft Deterrent/Shock Sensor Customization for procedures on enabling or disabling the shock sensor. Feature Customization

FUEL ENABLE CONTROL
When the content theft deterrent system is armed, the BCM sends a fuel disable signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The PCM then disables the fuel injectors. This prevents engine start attempts.

When the system is disarmed, the BCM sends a fuel enable signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The PCM then enables fuel delivery to the engine, allowing the engine to start.
