Instrument Panel Cluster Trim Panel Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
CAUTION:
^ This vehicle has a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine whether you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring. When you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, refer to Repair Instructions in SIR. Failure to follow the CAUTIONS could cause air bag deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.
^ Before servicing any electrical component, the ignition key must be in the OFF or LOCK position and all electrical loads must be OFF, unless instructed otherwise in these procedures. If a tool or equipment could easily come in contact with a live exposed electrical terminal, also disconnect the negative battery cable. Failure to follow these precautions may cause personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.
1. Disconnect the battery ground negative cable.
2. Remove the left Instrument Panel (IP) insulator.
3. Remove the steering column opening filler.
4. Remove the knee bolster.
5. Lower the steering column.
6. Grasp both sides of the bottom edge of the IP trim plate and pull out in order to release the retainer clips.
7. Disconnect the electrical connector from the fog lamp switch.
8. Remove the instrument cluster trim plate from the IP.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Connect the electrical connector to the fog lamp switch.
2. Align the instrument panel (IP) cluster trim plate locating pins and retainer clips with the slots in the IP.
3. Push in the IP cluster trim plate at each of the retainer clip locations in order to lock in the trim plate.
4. Raise the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering.
5. Install the knee bolster.
6. Install the steering column opening filler.
7. Install the left IP insulator.
8. Connect the battery ground negative cable.
