Battery Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE





CAUTION:
- Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.
- Refer to SIR Handling Caution in Cautions and Notices.


1. Remove the front end sheet metal diagonal brace.
2. Remove the washer solvent container assembly.
3. Disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable from the battery.
4. Disconnect the battery (positive) cable with the battery (positive) terminal bolt from the battery.
5. Remove the battery hold-down retainer.
6. Place the underhood accessory wiring junction block aside on the 3800 L36 (VIN K) or the 3800 L67 (VIN 1) for access to the battery. Refer to Underhood Accessory Wiring Junction Block in Body Front End. Fuse Block





IMPORTANT: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees during removal.

7. Remove the battery.

IMPORTANT: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees during battery insulator removal.

8. Remove the battery insulator from the battery.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





IMPORTANT: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees during battery insulator installation.

1. Install the battery insulator to the battery.





IMPORTANT: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees during installation.

2. Place the battery on the battery tray bracket.
3. Install the battery hold-down retainer.
4. Install the underhood accessory wiring junction block to the shock tower on the 3800 L36 (VIN K) or the 3800 L67 (VIN 1).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

5. Connect the battery (positive) cable with the battery (positive) terminal bolt to the battery.

Tighten
Tighten the battery (positive) terminal bolt to 15 N.m(11 lb ft).

6. Connect the battery ground (negative) cable to the battery.
7. Install the washer solvent container assembly.
8. Install the front end sheet metal diagonal brace.
