Component Tests and General Diagnostics
PERFORM BEFORE BEGINNING SYSTEM DIAGNOSISNOTE: The Multi-Function Alarm Module will go to sleep 3 or 20 minutes after key off depending if the vehicle has travelled over 24 km (15 miles). Until the Multi-Function Alarm Module goes to sleep, it will draw 60-80 ma once the Multi-Function Alarm Module goes to sleep, the amperage draw will drop to 3-15 ma.
1. Check that ground G302 is clean and tight.
2. Check he RDO Fuse by observing the operation of the Radio.
3. Check the PWR ACC Fuse by operating the Power Door locks.
4. Always check terminal contact before replacing any component.
5. If a second transmitter is available, try it. If it works, resynchronize the first transmitter and try it again. If still not operational, change the batteries in transmitter. If still not operational, replace the transmitter.
6. Check Transmitter battery terminals. They should be clean and make good contact with the battery.
7. If in doubt as to the condition of the Transmitter batteries, replace them with new ones. Checking the battery voltage with a DMM may give false results.
8. If a motors internal circuit breaker trips, it will not reset until voltage is removed from the motor.
9. This diagnostic assumes that the basic Door Lock System is OK. Continue with this diagnosis only if:
^ Both Door Lock Switches control the door locks.
^ At least the RH front and both rear Door Lock Motors work.
10. Both Transmitters operate system at close range only. Check Transmitter batteries and battery terminals. If OK, replace Remote Control Door Lock Receiver.
11. One Transmitter does not work properly, but other is OK. Check Transmitter batteries and battery terminals. If OK, replace Remote Control Door Lock Receiver.
12. Door Lock Motors are always in UNLOCK mode. No power door locking function operates. Check for short to Battery in CKT 194 and Door Lock Relay. If OK, refer to Power Door Locks Do Not Operate From Either Front Door Lock Switch. Power DR Locks Do Not Operate From Either Front Door Lock SW
13. Luggage compartment lid release does not operate properly front Transmitters. Refer to Test A, Checks 1 and 4
14. Both Transmitters do not operate. Refer to Test A, Check all terminals
15. Both Transmitters operate some, but not all remote entry features. Refer to Test A, Check all terminals
16. Driver's door cannot be locked from Door Lock Switch. Refer to Test A, Check 5.
^ Check for broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause system failure but prove Good in continuity/voltage check (refer to Troubleshooting Procedures).
^ Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems (refer to Troubleshooting Procedures). Diagnostic Aids
