Troubleshooting Hints - Exterior Lights

1. Check the HVAC, EXT LP, TURN-B/U, and STOP-HAZ Fuses.
2. If the Turn/Hazard Flasher cycles continuously on and off, check circuit 16 for a short to ground.
3. If only one lamp does not operate, check the bulb and related wiring.
4. If the Hazard Lamps stay on (do not flash) with the Hazard Switch in the on position, replace the Turn/Hazard Flasher.
5. If the Turn Indicator lamp flashes at two times the normal rate when the Turn Signal is in the on position, check the Turn Lamps on that side.
6. If some of the Turn Lamps work, and all of the Hazard Lamps work, replace Turn/Hazard-Headlamp Switch Assembly.
7. If the Hazard Lamps do not turn off, replace the Turn/Hazard-Headlamp Switch Assembly.
8. If the Park Lamps do not turn off, replace Turn/Hazard-Headlamp Switch Assembly.
9. If one Turn Indicator comes on when the Park Lamps are turned off. check the front Turn Lamp Bulb and ground wire on that side for high resistance or an open.
10. If the Turn Indicator does not operate. check the bulb, wire, and Instrument Panel Cluster connectors.
11. If the Park, Marker and Tail Lamps do not work, check circuit 9, circuit 240 and the Headlamp Switch for an open.
12. If none of the Stop Lamps work. check circuit 17, circuit 140 and the Brake Switch for an open.
13. if some of the Hazard Lamps work, and all Turn Lamps work. replace the Turn/Hazard-Headlamp Switch Assembly.
14. If both High Mounted Stop Lamps do not operate, check circuit 17 and circuit 150 for an open.
15. If both License Lamps do not operate, check circuit 9 and circuit ISO for an open.
^ Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause system malfunction but prove good in a continuity/voltage check with a system disconnected. These circuits may be intermittent or resistive when loaded, and if possible, should be checked by monitoring for a voltage drop with the system operational (under load).
^ Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems. Refer to Troubleshooting Procedures. Diagnostic Aids
