Wheel Hub: Service and Repair

FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS/HUB

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.





2. Remove the special security wheel lock nut, if equipped. Use the special security wheel lock key, which is located in the front floor console.
3. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
4. Remove the brake caliper (3).
5. Remove the brake rotor (5).
6. Disconnect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector. Set the connector aside.
7. Remove the bolts/screws (6) from the hub (4).
8. Pull the hub from the spindle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Position the hub (4) to the spindle.

NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the bolts and the screws (6).
^ Tighten the bolts/screws to 86 Nm (63 ft. lbs.).

IMPORTANT: The wheel speed sensor electrical connector must be connected to the wheel speed sensor wire bracket (8) and to the wheel speed sensor. Otherwise the wires may be damaged.

3. Connect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector.
4. Install the brake rotor (5).
5. Install the brake caliper (3).
6. Install the tire and the wheel.
7. Install the special security wheel lock nut, if equipped. Use the special security wheel lock key, which is located in the front floor console.
8. Lower the vehicle.
