Clearing DTCs

Use one of these two methods for clearing class 2 Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) in the module memory:
^ The scan tool (Tech 2) method.
^ The ignition cycle default method. These methods will not clear DTCs:
^ Unplugging the modules electrical connectors.
^ Disconnecting the battery cables.
^ Turning the ignition switch off (except on an ignition cycle default).

IMPORTANT:
^ Check for proper module operation and the absence of DTCs after completing the clearing procedure.
^ When diagnostics and repairs are completed, refer to the appropriate system check for more information on related DTCs.

The BCM is not part of the class 2 serial data line and flashes DTC codes. Refer to Clearing DTCs for clearing BCM DTCs.

Scan Tool Method
Refer to the scan tool (Tech 2) user's manual for menu navigation instructions.

Ignition Cycle Default
The modules clear a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) automatically when the malfunction that set such DTC does not occur for 100 ignition cycles.
