Wiper Motor Linkage: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURETOOLS REQUIRED
J 39232 Wiper Transmission Separator
1. Remove the wiper arm assemblies from the wiper transmission assembly drive shafts.
2. Remove the air inlet grille panel from the vehicle.
3. Remove the connector from the wiper motor assembly.
4. Remove 3 screws and the wiper drive system module from the vehicle.
5. Remove the wiper transmission assembly from the wiper motor crank arm using J 39232.
6. Remove the cap from the wiper transmission assembly.
7. Remove 4 screws and the wiper transmission assembly from the tube frame.
8. Remove 3 grommets from the tube frame and from the wiper transmission assembly.
9. Remove the wiper motor assembly from the tube frame.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39529 Wiper Transmission Installer
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
1. Install 3 grommets onto the tube frame and the wiper transmission assembly.
2. Install the wiper motor assembly onto the tube frame.
3. Install the wiper transmission assembly onto the tube frame with 4 crews.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 9 N.m (79 lb in).
4. Install the cap onto the wiper transmission assembly.
5. Install the wiper transmission onto the wiper motor crank arm assembly using the J 39529.
6. Install the wiper drive system module onto the vehicle with 3 crews.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 9 N.m (79 lb in).
7. Install the connector onto the wiper motor assembly.
8. Install the air inlet grill panel onto the vehicle.
9. Install the wiper arm assemblies onto the wiper transmission assembly drive shafts.
10. Operate the wipers and check for proper operation.
