Compressor Mounting Bracket Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

IMPORTANT: Repairs to the following areas require the loosening of some A/C bracket bolts:
^ The A/C compressor
^ The A/C belt system

In order to prevent future torque loss after retightening the bolts, perform the following steps:
^ Replace the bolt with an appropriate new bolt.
^ Replace the stud with an appropriate new stud.
^ Apply Loctite (R) 242 or the equivalent to the bolt or stud threads.

Follow the package instructions in order to achieve the best retention.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the drive belt.
3. Raise and support the vehicle.
4. Remove the right air deflector shield.
5. Remove the right splash shield.
6. Remove the compressor attaching bolts (1,2,3,5).
7. Remove the compressor (4). Position the compressor aside.
8. Remove the bracket.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

^ The A/C compressor
^ The A/C belt system

^ Replace the bolt with an appropriate new bolt
^ Replace the stud with an appropriate new stud
^ Apply Loctite (R) 242 or the equivalent to the bolt or stud threads.

Follow the package instructions in order to achieve the best retention.
1. Install the bracket.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 100 N.m (74 lb ft).

2. Install the following components:
^ The compressor (4)
^ The compressor attaching bolts (1,2,3,5)

Tighten
^ Tighten the front compressor attaching bolts to 58 N.m (43 lb ft).
^ Tighten the rear compressor attaching bolts to 50 N.m (35 lb ft).

3. Install the right air deflector.
4. Install the right splash shield.
5. Install the serpentine belt.
6. Connect the negative battery cable.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).
