Dash Panel Reinforcement Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
2. Pull back the carpet.
3. Disconnect the accelerator cable and pedal.

* For the 3.1 engine, refer to Accelerator Control Cable Replacement.
* For the 3.8 engine, refer to Accelerator Control Cable Replacement.

4. Remove the vacuum brake booster. Refer to Power Vacuum Brake Booster Replacement.
5. Remove the bolts from the steering column seal.
6. Remove the steering column seal.
7. Remove the steering column. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement.




8. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the instrument panel harness.




9. Use a small flat-bladed tool in order to push the instrument panel harness grommet through the dash panel reinforcement.
10. Remove the instrument panel harness through the dash panel reinforcement.
11. Remove the cross vehicle beam. Refer to Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement (Instrument Panel (IP) - Tie Bar / Cross Vehicle Beam) in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
12. Remove the nuts from the dash panel reinforcement.




13. Remove the dash panel reinforcement from the dash.



Installation Procedure





1. Install the dash panel reinforcement to the dash.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. Install the nuts to the dash panel reinforcement.

Tighten the dash panel to reinforcement nuts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

3. Install the cross vehicle beam. Refer to Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement (Instrument Panel (IP) - Tie Bar / Cross Vehicle Beam) in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.




4. Install the instrument panel harness through the dash panel reinforcement.
5. Use a small flat-bladed tool in order to push the instrument panel harness grommet through the dash panel reinforcement and seat grommet into the dash panel reinforcement.




6. Connect the electrical connectors to the instrument panel harness.
7. Install the steering column seal.
8. Install the bolts to the steering column seal.

Tighten the steering column seal bolts to 3 N.m (27 lb in).

9. Install the steering column. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement.
10. Install the vacuum brake booster. Refer to Power Vacuum Brake Booster Replacement.
11. Connect the accelerator cable and pedal.

* For the 3.1 engine refer to Accelerator Control Cable Replacement.
* For the 3.8 engine refer to Accelerator Control Cable Replacement.

12. Pull the back carpet.
13. Connect the battery ground (negative) cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
