Average Fuel Economy
The average fuel economy is a function of the distance divided by the fuel used since the parameter was last reset. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the PCM indicating the fuel used. The IPC uses the distance information calculated for the odometer display. The average fuel economy parameter is displayed on the DIC in one of the following formats:^ FUEL ECONOMY
XX.X AVG MPG
^ FUEL ECONOMY
XX.X AVG L/100 km
The XX.X represents the calculated average fuel economy value. The units of the display correspond to the current IPC setting. The average fuel economy is reset by pressing the RESET button for greater than 5 seconds while the AVG FUEL ECONOMY is displayed. The DIC displays 0.0 MPG for the English mode and 99.9 L/100 km for the metric mode when the parameter is reset.
