Cruise Control - Inoperative/Malfunctioning

CRUISE CONTROL INOPERATIVE/MALFUNCTIONING

The numbers below refer to step numbers on the diagnostic table for the cruise control system.
2. Inspect ignition supply to the cruise control module.
3. Inspect for a ground circuit to the cruise control module.
4. Inspect circuits 84 and 87.
5. Inspect if the fault is in circuits 84 and 87, or with the cruise control module.
6. Inspect RES/ACCEL function on the cruise control switch assembly.
7. Inspect for ignition supply to the cruise control switch.
8. Inspect RES/ACCEL function of the cruise control switch.
9. Inspect power supply to the cruise control module at SET/DECEL input.
10. Inspect SET/DECEL function of the cruise control switch.
11. Determines if the fault is with the cruise control module to the instrument cluster interface or with the stop lamp switch inputs.
12. Inspect the cruise control interface to the instrument cluster.
13. Inspect circuit 85 for an open circuit.
14. Inspect for faulty a stop lamp switch (Switch A).
15. Inspect for a faulty electrical release switch (stop lamp Switch B) and the clutch switch.
16. Inspect operation of the ACTIVE icon.
17. Determines if the fault is in circuit 396 or in the instrument cluster.
18. Inspect for a fault in circuit 5197 and/or powertrain control module (PCM).
19. Inspect the operation of the cruise control system during road test.
20. Visual checks of the cruise control cable for damage and adjustment.
21. Further diagnostic test that can be performed to help isolate any malfunctions within the system.
