Service Procedure
The following procedure provides instructions for removing, cleaning, and reinstalling the bolts that attach both front brake caliper mounting brackets to the knuckles.1. Raise the vehicle on a suitable hoist and support as necessary.
2. Remove both front tire and wheel assemblies.
Important
Do not remove the brake caliper from the mounting bracket.
3. Remove the two bolts (2) attaching the left front caliper mounting bracket (1) to the knuckle. Do not remove the bracket and caliper from the knuckle.
4. Using a wire brush, clean any threadlocker from the threads on the two bolts.
5. Apply adhesive (threadlocker), GM P/N 89021297 (Canadian P/N 10953488) or equivalent, to the threads of both bolts.
6. Reinstall the two bolts into the bracket.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 170 N.m (125 ft lb).
7. Repeat the procedure on the right side front caliper mounting bracket bolts.
8. Install both front tire and wheel assemblies.
Tighten
Tighten the wheel nuts to 140 N.m (103 ft lb).
9. Lower the vehicle.
