Cylinder Head Assembly

Important: Install the NEW cylinder head bolts.





Cylinder Head Bolts
First Pass all M11 Bolts in Sequence 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.)
Second Pass all M11 Bolts in Sequence 90 degrees
Final Pass all M11 Bolts in Sequence 70 degrees
M8 Inner Bolts in Sequence 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.)
Cylinder Head
^ Cylinder Head Height/Thickness - Measured from the Cylinder Head Deck to the Valve Rocker Arm Cover Seal Surface 120.2 mm (4.732 inch)
^ Surface Flatness - Block Deck - Measured Within a 152.4 mm (6.0 inch) Area 0.08 mm (0.003 inch)
^ Surface Flatness - Block Deck - Measuring the Overall Length of the Cylinder Head 0.1 mm (0.004 inch)
^ Surface Flatness - Exhaust Manifold Deck 0.13 mm (0.005 inch)
^ Surface Flatness - Intake Manifold Deck 0.08 mm (0.0031 inch)
^ Valve Guide Installed Height - Measured from the Spring Seat Surface to the Top of the Guide 17.32 mm (0.682 inch)
Exhaust Crossover Pipe Nuts 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.)





Exhaust Manifold - Left

Important: Install exhaust manifolds with NEW gaskets and bolts.

^ Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts a first pass to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.)
^ Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts beginning with the center two bolts. Alternate from side-to-side, and work toward the outside bolts.
^ Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts a final pass to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
^ Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts beginning with the center two bolts. Alternate from side-to-side, and work toward the outside bolts.





Exhaust Manifold - Right

^ Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts a first pass to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
^ Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts beginning with the center two bolts. Alternate from side-to-side, and work toward the outside bolts.
^ Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts a final pass to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
^ Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts beginning with the center two bolts. Alternate from side-to-side, and work toward the outside bolts.
Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield Bolts 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.)
Exhaust Manifold Studs 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.)





Flywheel Bolts
^ First Pass 20 Nm (15 lb ft)
^ Second Pass 50 Nm (37 lb ft)
^ Final Pass 100 Nm (74 lb ft)Intake Manifold Bolts
