SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 2 (Sedan)
SIR DISABLING AND ENABLING ZONE 2 (SEDAN)
DISABLING PROCEDURE
1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle wheels are pointing straight ahead.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
3. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
4. Remove the LH instrument panel (I/P) outer trim cover.
5. Remove the AIR BAG fuse from the LH I/P wiring harness junction block.
IMPORTANT: With the AIR BAG fuse removed and the ignition switch in the RUN position, the AIR BAG warning lamp illuminates. This is a normal operation and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.
6. Remove the LH center pillar upper trim.
7. Remove the inflatable restraint side impact sensor (SIS) left from the center pillar (1).
8. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) (3) from the left SIS connector (4).
9. Disconnect the left SIS connector (4) from the left SIS (2).
ENABLING PROCEDURE
1. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
2. Connect the left SIS connector (4) to the left SIS (2).
3. Install the CPA (3) to the left SIS connector (4).
4. Install the left SIS to the center pillar (1).
5. Install the LH center pillar upper trim.
6. Install the AIR BAG fuse to the LH I/P wiring harness junction block.
7. Install the LH I/P outer trim cover.
8. Use caution while reaching in and turn the ignition switch to the ON position.The AIR BAG indicator will flash then turn OFF.
9. Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle if the AIR BAG warning indicator does not operate as described. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle in Vehicle DTC Information.
