SIR DISABLING AND ENABLING ZONE 6
DISABLING PROCEDURE
1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicles wheels are pointing straight ahead.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
3. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
4. Remove the LH instrument panel (I/P) outer trim cover.
5. Remove the AIR BAG fuse from the LH I/P wiring harness junction block.
IMPORTANT: With the AIR BAG fuse removed and the ignition switch in the RUN position, the AIR BAG warning lamp illuminates. This is a normal operation and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.
6. Remove the RH door trim panel (2).
7. Remove the inflatable restraint side impact sensor (SIS) right (1) from the RH door (4).
8. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) (3) from the right SIS connector (4).
9. Disconnect the right SIS connector (4) from the right SIS (2).
ENABLING PROCEDURE
1. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
2. Connect the right SIS connector (4) to the right SIS (2).
3. Install the CPA (3) to the right SIS connector (4).
4. Install the right SIS (1) to the RH door (4).
5. Install the RH door trim panel (2).
6. Install the AIR BAG fuse to the LH I/P wiring harness junction block.
7. Install the LH I/P outer trim cover.
8. Use caution while reaching in and turn the ignition switch to the ON position.The AIR BAG indicator will flash then turn OFF.
9. Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle if the AIR BAG warning indicator does not operate as described. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle in Vehicle DTC Information.
