SIR DISABLING AND ENABLING ZONE 7

DISABLING PROCEDURE




1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle wheels are pointing straight ahead.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
3. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
4. Remove the LH instrument panel (I/P) outer trim cover.
5. Remove the AIR BAG fuse from the LH I/P wiring harness junction block.

IMPORTANT: With the AIR BAG fuse removed and the ignition switch in the RUN position, the AIR BAG warning lamp illuminates. This is a normal operation and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.




6. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the inflatable restraint side impact module - LF connector (1) located under the driver seat.
7. Disconnect the side impact module - LF connector (1) from the vehicle harness connector.

ENABLING PROCEDURE




1. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
2. Connect the side impact module - LF connector (1) to the vehicle harness connector.
3. Install the CPA to the side impact module - LF connector (1).




4. Install the AIR BAG fuse to the LH I/P wiring harness junction block.
5. Install the LH I/P outer trim cover.
6. Use caution while reaching in and turn the ignition switch to the ON position.The AIR BAG indicator will flash then turn OFF.
7. Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle if the AIR BAG warning indicator does not operate as described. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle in Vehicle DTC Information.
