SIR DISABLING AND ENABLING ZONE 7

DISABLING PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: Refer to SIR Service Precautions.

1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicles wheels are pointing straight ahead.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
3. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
4. Open the hood and locate the underhood fuse center on right/passenger shock tower.




5. Lift the cover for the underhood fuse center.

IMPORTANT: With the SIR Fuse removed and the ignition ON, the AIR BAG indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.

6. Locate and remove the SIR Fuse from the underhood fuse center.




7. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the left/driver seat belt pretensioner connector (1) located under the driver seat.
8. Disconnect the left seat belt pretensioner connector from vehicle wiring harness connector (1).

ENABLING PROCEDURE
1. Remove the key from the ignition switch.




2. Connect the left seat belt pretensioner connector to the vehicle wiring harness connector (1).
3. Install the CPA to the seat belt pretensioner connector (1).




4. Install the SIR Fuse.
5. Close the underhood fuse center cover.
6. Use caution while reaching in and turn the ignition switch to the ON position.The AIR BAG indicator will flash then turn OFF.
7. Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle if the AIR BAG warning indicator does not operate as described. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle.
