Oil Pump Inspection

Oil Pump Inspection

1. Important:
If the body clearance is greater than the maximum, replace the oil pump body sub-assembly.

Push the driven gear to one side of the body. Using a feeler gage, measure the clearance.
^ The standard body clearance is 0.1 - 0.17 mm (0.0039 - 0.0067 inch).
^ The maximum body clearance is 0.17 mm (0.0067 inch).

2. Important:
If the tip clearance is greater than the maximum, replace the oil pump body sub-assembly.

Measure the tip clearance between the driven gear teeth and drive gear teeth.
^ The standard tip clearance is 0.07 - 0.15 mm (0.0028 - 0.0059 inch).
^ The maximum tip clearance is 0.15 mm (0.0059 inch).

3. Important:
If the side clearance is greater than the maximum, replace the drive gear, driven gear, or pump body.

Using a steel straight edge and feeler gage, measure the side clearance of both gears.
^ The standard side clearance is 0.02 - 0.05 mm (0.0008 - 0.002 inch).
^ The maximum side clearance is 0.05 mm (0.002 inch).

4. Important:
If the inside diameter is greater than the maximum, replace the oil pump body sub-assembly.

Using a dial indicator, measure the inside diameter of the oil pump body bushing.
^ The standard inside diameter is 38.126 mm (1.50102 inch).
^ The maximum inside diameter is 38.188 mm (1.50346 inch).

5. Important:
If the inside diameter is greater than the maximum, replace the stator shaft.

Using a dial indicator, measure the inside diameter of the stator shaft bushings.
^ The standard inside diameter is 18.437 mm (0.72586 inch).
^ The maximum inside diameter is 18.5 mm (0.728 inch).
