Radio Warning Messages
CHANGE OIL SOON
The driver information center (DIC) illuminates the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message when the engine control module (ECM) determines that the engine oil life is less than 10 percent. The ECM sends a serial data message to the BCM to request the radio to display the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message in the DIC. After the oil is changed, reset the engine oil monitor. Refer to GM Oil Life System Resetting.
ICE POSSIBLE
The radio illuminates the ICE POSSIBLE message when the ambient air temperature drops below 2.0°C (36°F). When the temperature rises above 5.5°C (42°F), the ICE POSSIBLE message turns OFF. The radio receives serial data messages indicating the ambient air temperature from the body control module (BCM).
LOW FUEL
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) illuminates the low fuel indicator when the IPC detects that the fuel level is less than 14 percent. The indicator is an LED inside the fuel gage. The IPC receives a serial data messages indicating the fuel level percent from the body control module (BCM).
LOW OIL PRESSURE
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) illuminates the engine oil pressure indicator when the engine control module (ECM) detects a low engine oil pressure condition. The ECM sends a serial data message to the body control module (BCM) indicating a low engine oil pressure condition. The DIC receives a serial data message from the BCM requesting the display of the low oil pressure message.
SERVICE VEHICLE SOON
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) illuminates the SERVICE VEHICLE SOON indicator when any of the following conditions are present:
* The ECM or the BCM detects certain malfunctions that are not emissions related. The IPC receives a serial data message requesting illumination of the indicator from the BCM.
* The IPC detects a loss of serial data communications from the BCM.
VEHICLE OVERSPEED (Gulf States Only)
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) illuminates vehicle overspeed indicator when the body control module (BCM) detects that the vehicle speed is more than 120 km/h (75 mph). The IPC receives a serial data message requesting illumination of the indicator from the BCM.
