Theft Deterrent Module Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair) .
Caution: Refer to SIR Caution (SIR Caution) .
2. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling (Service and Repair) .
3. Remove the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement (Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement) .




4. Disconnect the theft deterrent module (TDM) electrical connector (4).

Important: Rotate the ignition lock cylinder lamp socket counter-clockwise to disengage the locking tangs and pull to detach the ignition lock cylinder lamp socket (2) from the TDM.


5. Detach the ignition lock cylinder lamp socket (2) from the TDM (1).
6. Remove the TDM to steering column assembly retaining screw (3).




7. Remove the TDM (1) from the steering column assembly (2).



Installation Procedure






Important: Make sure the locating pin on the steering column assembly (2) is aligned with the TDM (1).


1. Install the TDM (1) to the steering column assembly (2).





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

2. Install the TDM to steering column assembly retaining screw (3).

Tighten the screw to 1 N.m (9 lb in).


Important: Rotate the ignition lock cylinder lamp socket counter-clockwise to disengage the locking tangs and pull to detach the ignition lock cylinder lamp socket (2) from the TDM.


3. Detach the ignition lock cylinder lamp socket (2) from the TDM (1).
4. Connect the theft deterrent module (TDM) electrical connector (4).
5. Install the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement (Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement) .
6. Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair) .
7. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling (Service and Repair) .
8. Program the TDM. Refer to Theft Deterrent Control Module Programming and Setup (Programming and Relearning) .
