Circuit/System Description
When the Increase and Decrease interior illumination dimmer buttons are pressed simultaneously for an extended period, the vehicles interior illumination will all set to night mode. Only the vehicles speedometer will remain illuminated. When the Increase and Decrease dimmer button are pressed simultaneously again for an extended period, the vehicles interior illumination will return to previous illumination setting. The Illumination test is performed using the scan tool, and commands the infotainment unit to change the illumination mode. You can choose between Day and Night mode. When day mode is selected the infotainment unit will be illuminated. In night mode the infotainment unit illumination will turn off.

* This diagnostic is for the infotainment unit day / night illumination mode feature.
* Before diagnosis of the illumination mode feature, make sure the primary controls of the associated components are functioning properly.

Component Testing
Important: It is recommended that component testing is performed before circuit testing when diagnosing infotainment unit functions.
1. Connect the scan tool to the DLC and select Infotainment
System / Audio System / Actuator Test / Display / Illumination Mode .
2. Ignition On, infotainment unit On.
3. Select day illumination mode by pressing the Day soft key on the scan tool. The infotainment unit illumination should set to maximum brightness.
4. Select night illumination mode by pressing the Night soft key on the scan tool. The infotainment unit illumination should dim significantly.
5. Press the Quit soft key to exit the test.
• If the illumination mode function does not operate correctly, replace the infotainment unit.
