Subject: Intermittent MIL/Check Engine Light On, Reduced Performance, Multiple DTCs Set (Check Fuse and Inspect Positive Battery Connections)

Models:
2008-2009 Pontiac G8

Condition

Some customers may comment that the check engine/service engine soon (SES) light is on or comment on reduced performance concerns regarding their vehicle.

Upon inspection, a technician may find multiple DTCs set.

List of DTCs That May Set
- P0562: System Voltage Low
- P2100: Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) Motor Control Circuit
- P2101: Control Module Throttle Actuator Position Performance
- P2176: Minimum Throttle Position Not Learned
- P2544: Transmission Torque Request Circuit
- B1517 : Battery Voltage
- B0081 0F: Incorrect Passenger Side Impact Sensor (SIS) Installed
- U0101 : Lost Communication With TCM
- U0170 : Lost Communication With Restraints System Sensor A (PPS)

Correction

Verify the condition and follow the steps below.





1. Inspect fuse F28. If the fuse is blown, replace the fuse and inspect the circuit for the cause.





2. Inspect for a loose or poor positive (B+) battery cable connection where the cable connects to the battery or to the floor of the trunk.





3. Inspect the positive (B+) battery cable bulkhead for loose or poor connections (1).





4. Inspect the positive (B+) battery cable jump start bolt (1).
