Headlamp Switch: Service and Repair



Headlamp Switch Replacement

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution (Battery Disconnect Caution) .
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable from the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair) .
2. Remove the Instrument Panel (I/P) Outer Trim Cover. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement (Service and Repair) .





Important: When removing the knee bolster assembly (1), care must be taken not to scratch the steering column cover (2). This can be achieved by slightly bending the knee bolster (1) to avoid contact with the steering column (2).



Important: Grasp the knee bolster assembly (1) and carefully pull downward to disengage the knee bolster assembly to I/P retaining clips (3).


3. Remove the knee bolster assembly (1) and position aside.




4. Disconnect the headlamp switch electrical connecter (1).





Important: Push the rear of the headlamp switch (1) forward to disengage the headlamp switch to knee bolster assembly retaining clips (3).


5. Remove the headlamp switch (1) from the knee bolster assembly (2).



Installation Procedure






Important: Listen for an audible click to confirm the headlamp switch to knee bolster assembly retaining clips (3) are correctly engaged.


1. Install the headlamp switch (1) to the knee bolster assembly (2).




2. Connect the headlamp switch electrical connecter (1).





Important: When installing the knee bolster assembly (1), care must be taken not to scratch the steering column cover (2). This can be achieved by slightly bending the knee bolster (1) to avoid contact with the steering column (2).



Important: Listen for an audible click to confirm the knee bolster assembly to I/P retaining clips (3) are correctly engaged.


3. Install the knee bolster assembly (1).
4. Install the I/P Outer Trim Cover. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement (Service and Repair) .
5. Connect the battery ground cable to the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair) .
