Knock Sensor Replacement

Removal Procedure

Right Bank
Caution: Refer to Protective Goggles and Glove Caution (Protective Goggles and Glove Warning) .
Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution (Service Precautions) .
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution (Battery Disconnect Caution) .
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable from the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair) .
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair) .
3. Remove the starter motor. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement (3.6L Engine) (Starter Motor Replacement (3.6L Engine))Starter Motor Replacement (6.0L Engine) (Starter Motor Replacement (6.0L Engine)) .

4. Disconnect the engine wiring harness (3) from the knock sensor (2).
5. Remove the knock sensor to engine block retaining bolt (1).
6. Remove the knock sensor (2) from the engine block.

Installation Procedure

1. Connect the engine wiring harness (3) to the knock sensor (2).
2. Position the knock sensor (2) on the engine block.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

3. Install the knock sensor to engine block retaining bolt (1).

Tighten the bolt to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

4. Install the starter motor. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement (3.6L Engine) (Starter Motor Replacement (3.6L Engine))Starter Motor Replacement (6.0L Engine) (Starter Motor Replacement (6.0L Engine)) .
5. Connect the battery ground cable to the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair) .

Removal Procedure

3. Disconnect the engine wiring harness (3) from the knock sensor (2).
4. Remove the knock sensor to engine block retaining bolt (1).
5. Remove the knock sensor (2) from the engine block.
