Inflatable Restraint Front End Sensor Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Disable the SIR. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling (Service and Repair) .
2. Remove the Radiator Air Upper Baffle and Deflector (if fitted). Refer to Radiator Air Upper Baffle and Deflector Replacement (Service and Repair)





Important: The radiator top mounts can be taken off and the radiator lent back to aid in removal.


3. Remove the left front impact sensor to front end module retaining bolt (1).




4. Remove the right front impact sensor to front end module retaining bolt (1).




5. Remove the front impact sensors (2) from the front end module (3).
6. Remove the front impact sensor electrical connections (1).



Installation Procedure





1. Install the front impact sensor electrical connections (1).

Important: Locating lugs will hold the NEW sensors in place.


2. Install the NEW front impact sensors (2) to the front end module (3).





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

3. Install the right front impact sensor to front end module retaining bolt (1).

Tighten the retaining bolt to 9 N.m (80 lb in).






Important: The radiator top mounts can be taken off and the radiator lent back to aid in installation.


4. Install the left front impact sensor to front end module retaining bolt (1).

Tighten the retaining bolt to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

5. Install the Radiator Air Upper Baffle and Deflector (if fitted). Refer to Radiator Air Upper Baffle and Deflector Replacement (Service and Repair)
6. Enable the SIR. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling (Service and Repair) .
