Diagnostic Fault Information





Circuit/System Description

During top operation, the folding top control (FTC) module sends a signal to the window regulators to index the windows open on the retractable hard top request circuits. Upon completion of top operation it sends a signal to close the windows. The FTC monitors the retractable hard top request circuits for proper operation.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The FTC module is active.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

A short to ground or short to voltage is detected on one or both retractable hard top request circuits.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The top is disabled.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

The fault is no longer present and the top completes one cycle.

Diagnostic Aids

An open on either retractable hard top request circuit will cause the windows to be inoperative during top operation.

Circuit/System Testing

B316A 01
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the FTC Module.
2. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp does not illuminate between the serial data circuit terminal 23 and ground.

If the test lamp illuminates, test the serial data circuit for a short to voltage.

3. Verify that a test lamp does not illuminate between the serial data circuit terminal 11 and ground.

If the test lamp illuminates, test the serial data circuit for a short to voltage.

4. If all circuits test normal, replace the FTC module.

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the FTC Module.
2. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp does not illuminate between the serial data circuit terminal 23 and B+.

If the test lamp illuminates, test the serial data circuit for a short to ground.

3. Verify that a test lamp does not illuminate between the serial data circuit terminal 11 and B+.

If the test lamp illuminates, test the serial data circuit for a short to ground.

4. If all circuits test normal, replace the FTC module.
