Rear Disc Brake Backing Plate Replacement

Removal Procedure

Warning: Refer to Safety Glasses Warning (Safety Glasses Warning).

1. Remove the wheel hub and knuckle assembly. Refer to Knuckle Replacement (Knuckle Replacement).
2. Remove the wheel hub. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement (Rear Suspension).




3. Remove the disc brake backing plate to knuckle retaining bolts (3 and 4).
4. Remove the disc brake backing plate (2) from the knuckle (1).

Installation Procedure




1. Install the disc brake backing plate (2) to the knuckle (1).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Install the upper disc brake backing plate to knuckle retaining bolt (3) and tighten to 60 Nm (44 lb ft).
3. Install the lower disc brake backing plate to knuckle retaining bolts (4) and tighten to 130 Nm (96 lb ft).
4. Install the wheel hub. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement (Rear Suspension).
5. Install the wheel hub and knuckle assembly. Refer to Knuckle Replacement (Knuckle Replacement).
