Owner Letter
Owner LetterNovember 2009
Dear General Motors Customer:
As the owner of a 2009 or 2010 model year Pontiac Vibe equipped with a 1.8L engine, your satisfaction with our product is very important to us.
General Motors recently announced a safety recall involving 2009 and 2010 model year Pontiac Vibe vehicles equipped with a 1.8L engine and registered in states with extreme cold temperatures (-22°F or lower). These states are listed below.
Alaska
Colorado
Idaho
Illinois
Iowa
Kansas
Maine
Michigan
Minnesota
Montana
Nebraska
Nevada
New Hampshire
New York
North Dakota
South Dakota
Vermont
Wisconsin
Wyoming
On vehicles that are operated in temperatures of -22°F or lower, condensation on the brake vacuum intake manifold suction port may freeze. This could result in a loss of power brake assist and require greater brake pedal force and a longer stopping distance. If stopping distance is limited, a crash could occur without prior warning.
Records indicate that your vehicle is not registered in one of these states, but this condition could occur if you travel in one of these states when the temperatures are -22°F or lower. If you intend to travel in one of these states when the temperatures are expected to be -22°F or lower, you may want to contact your GM dealer to arrange to have the brake vacuum line modified so this condition does not occur. Present this letter to your dealer as authorization for this service. This service will be performed at no charge.
If you do not expect to travel in one of these states when the temperatures are -22°F or lower, no action is required, but we suggest you place this letter in your glove box for future reference.
If you have any questions or need assistance, just contact your dealer or the Pontiac Customer Assistance Center at 1-800-620-7668 (1-800-833-7668, TTY).
We are sorry for any inconvenience you may experience; however we have taken this action in the interest of your continued satisfaction with our products.
