Convertible Top Canvas: Description and Operation
COVERINGThe top covering is in two main parts comprising the front centre section with side extensions and the rear section with the rear window and zip fastener. Both parts can be replaced separately.
The centre section and side extensions are stitched together in a concealed manner.
The rear window, made of 1 mm polyglass, is bonded and stitched into the covering material, likewise the zip fastener. One advantage of this lies in the facility of replacing the complete window without removing the front section.
COVERING MATERIAL
The compound covering material is coded as for a textile material and is composed of three layers, namely:
outer layer: synthetic fiber
intermediate layer: rubber membrane
woven lining: 100 % cotton
The intermediate layer of rubber guarantees that the material is watertight, while the synthetic fiber outer layer is resistant to weathering.
Exceptional quality is achieved through the special type of weave and method of lamination employed, while the textile appearance of the exterior is retained.
Caution: Due to the rain channels, the front part of the covering material has been slightly reduced in width. This means that it will only fit vehicles of Model Year 86 and onwards.
