Drive Gearbox

Top Drive / Swingtype Gearboxes

Swing-type gearboxes are mounted with three bolts each on the inside of left and right side panels.

The right-hand side swing-type gearbox has additional threads (arrow) to mount a microswitch.

Steering arm and gearbox shaft are bolted together positively.
Tightening torque: 35 Nm.

With the basic adjustment of the swing-type gearbox the center of the steering arm will be aligned with the mark on the housing (arrow). This position corresponds with the final position of a raised (closed) top.

A worm gear is located on the back of the swing-type gearbox.

The gearwheel sector is visible after removal of a plastic cover.

Motion of the drive shaft is transmitted by a worm. A pinion on the gearwheel shaft drives the gearwheel sector of the swing-type gearbox (similar to 911 Cabriolets).
