1. Disassemble balance shaft drive as described under CAMSHAFT.
2. Disassemble camshaft drive as described under CAMSHAFT.
3. When removing and installing balance shaft drive, refer to Fig. 6.
4. When installing balance shaft housing, proceed as follows:
a. Tighten all hexagon head bolts and hexagon nuts finger tight.
b. Install bearing housing with new lightly oiled O-ring without tightening attaching nuts.
c. Torque bolts in sequence, Fig. 7. Torque M6 bolts to 6 ft. lbs. Torque M8 stud nuts in two steps to 11 and 22 ft. lbs. Torque M8 bolts in two steps to 11 and 14 ft. lbs. Check movement of balance shaft between each tightening step.
5. Refer to CAMSHAFT for assembling camshaft drive, assembling balance shaft drive, installing balance shaft drive gears, and installing and adjusting balance shaft drive belt.
