Models Affected:
1993 911 Carrera 2/4 (P) Targa and Cabriolet

Concern:
The window height adjustment procedure has been changed for 911 Targa and Cabriolet models produced from July 17, 1992.

General Information:

It is no longer necessary to remove the door panels on Targa or Cabriolet models to access the window height adjustment. An opening is provided behind the trim piece which houses the high frequency speaker for the sound system (see Figure 1 and Figure 2).

Repair Information:
To access the height adjustment bolt proceed as follows:

Step 1 - Unscrew the speaker grill for the front door tweeter and remove the three Phillips screws which retain the speaker to the door panel.

Step 2 - Remove the speaker connection lead and set the speaker aside.

Step 3 - Slide the trim piece forward on the door panel and remove.

Step 4 - Make a small slit in the plastic sheet between the door and the door panel in line with the window height adjustment bolt.

Step 5 - Adjust the door glass height so that the door glass is flush with the door frame.

Step 6 - Reseal the plastic sheet between the door and door panel with a good quality tape. Reinstall trim piece, speaker and speaker grill.
