- Refer to legend for disassembly instructions

Disassembly





- Remove bearing sleeves with suitable internal puller (e.g. Schrem 14-20).





- Remove outer race of input shaft cylindrical roller bearing with suitable internal puller (e. g. Schrem 50-60).

Assembly
- Clean transmission case and inspect for wear, external damage and cracks. In the case of drive pinion or ring gear damage (e.g. fracture), check bearing holes in centre case web for damage. Replace transmission case, if necessary.





- Heat transmission case to approximately 12O°C and using suitable thrust piece (e.g. VW 204 b), press outer race of drive pinion bearing in until seated.





- Heat transmission case to approximately 120°C and using special tools P 254 and 254 b, press outer race of input shaft bearing in until seated.





- Using special tool 9254, press in bearing sleeves flush.





- With special tool 9252, press seal ring into case until seated.





- Screw in breather right way round and tighten to 35 Nm (26 ft lb).

NOTE: The hole in one of the faces of the breather head must face forward (toward front transmission cover) in forward direction of travel.
