Oil Level Warning Indicator: Description and Operation

The segmented display next to the clock shows the engine oil level. The 6 segments between min and max correspond to approx. 1.5 liters on the oil dipstick. If the oil level drops below "min", the bottom segment flashes. It the entire display flashes, there is a fault (e.g. sensor wire-break, short-circuit ...).

Correct oil-level measurement can only be guaranteed if the vehicle is horizontal. The time required for the engine oil to settle depends on the engine temperature and how long the engine has been switched off. When the ignition is switched on, this waiting time is displayed on the clock as a decremental count in minutes and seconds. The segmented display also begins to light up in steps.
The oil settling time is e.g. approx. 30 seconds at an engine temperature of 80 °C.
