Engine Engagement/Nominal Engine Torque - Short Circuit to Ground

Function
In order to protect the transmission (Tiptronic), the advance angle is reduced briefly when a gear shift is performed at high speeds and high torques.

Diagnosis conditions
- Tiptronic vehicle

A fault is detected and stored in the memory when the torque reduction signal is present for more than approx. 2.5 sec.

P1782:

NOTE: This fault is a control module fault.

The following situations are conceivable:
1. Tiptronic control module faulty.
The Tiptronic control module continues to send the signal to reduce the torque, even though the DME control module has already reduced it.

2. DME control module faulty.
The DME control module does not reduce the torque, even though the Tiptronic control module has sent a signal demanding torque reduction. If the DME control module does not send a signal indicating that the torque has been reduced, the request remains in the Tiptronic control module and the time of 2.5 sec. is therefore exceeded.

An indication of a faulty control module could be an additionally stored checksum error (control module faulty).
