Load Sensing - Signal Implausible
Function
For sensing the engine load, a load signal is calculated from the intake air mass (signal from the mass air flow sensor) and the engine speed. This load signal is corrected by the intake air temperature and a taught altitude factor for the purpose of adaption to the air density.
Diagnosis conditions
- Engine at idle speed.
- Throttle valve angle between 10° and 60°.
- No mass air flow sensor fault.
- No throttle position sensor fault.
- No idle air control valve fault.
- Speed [>] 4 km/h (2.5 mph).
- Time elapsed after start-up [>] 240 sec.
- Time for fault recognition [>] 25 sec.
P1140:
Diagnosis Procedure
1 Readjust operating cable for cruise control.
1. Loosen snap ring 1 at adjusting piece 2 (move it) and push threaded part 3 through along with cruise control cable.
2. Engage cruise control cable on cruise control actuator and clip on adjusting piece 4 (bayonet lock).
3. Unscrew threaded part 5 until the accelerator plate is noticeably pulled.
4. Draw accelerator plate firmly back against its idle stop.
5. Push snap ring 6 back (fix in place).
6. Adjust precisely by turning the threaded part 7.
Permitted play: 0 + 1 mm.
2 Read actual values for TP sensor.
1. Connect and switch on Porsche System Tester 2.
2. Select vehicle type 996, DME, Actual values.
3. Select TP sensor.
4. Read actual value with throttle valve closed.
Display: approx. 0 %
5. Fully depress accelerator pedal.
6. Read actual value with throttle valve open.
Display: approx. 70 - 80 %
NOTE: It is important that the value changes and does not remain fixed.
