Diagnostic Procedure:
DTC P1691:
DTC P1692:
1. Check wiring from ECM to instrument cluster for continuity.
1. Connect special tool 9616 to wiring harness.
2. Separate connector X 3/1.
3. Connect ohmmeter to special tool 9616, pin 8, and to X 3/1 on cavity side, pin 16.
Display: 0- 5 Ohms.
If infinite Ohms is displayed, check wiring harness for chafing and pinching damage.
4. Remove connector III on instrument cluster.
5. Connect ohmmeter to X 3/1 on pin side and connector III of instrument cluster, pin 2.
Display: 0 - 5 Ohms.
If 0 - 5 Ohms is displayed, check wiring harness for chafing and pinching damage.
2. Check wiring from ECM to instrument cluster for short circuit to ground.
1. Connect special tool 9616 to wiring harness.
2. Remove connector III on instrument cluster.
3. Connect ohmmeter to special tool 9616, pin 8, and ground.
Display: Infinite Ohms.
If 0 - 5 Ohms is displayed, check wiring harness for chafing and pinching damage.
3. Check wiring from ECM to instrument cluster for short circuit to B+.
1. Connect special tool 9616 to wiring harness.
2. Remove connector III on instrument cluster.
3. Switch on ignition.
4. Connect voltmeter to special tool 9616, pin 8, and ground.
Display: 0 Volt.
If battery positive voltage is displayed, check wiring harness for chafing and pinching damage.
