Power Loss and Lack of Acceleration
Vehicle Type:
911 Turbo (996)
Model Year:
As of 2001(1)
Concern:
Poor acceleration and loss of power because of the pressure hose connecting the turbocharger inner cooler is loose.
Information:
Under load the pressure hose, part number, 996 110 630 73 right, or 996 110 631 72 left, can slip off the flange of the turbocharger (Figure 1). This can happen because of tolerance deviations on the pressure hose and incorrect positioning of the screw-type hose clamp.
A new pressure hose has been designed that has two guide ribs molded into the outside of the hose. The ribs position and hold the screw-type hose clamp in place. The new hose was introduced into production on July 24th, 2000 as of VIN, 99 41S 68 5752.
Parts Information:
Important Note:
If the replacement of the one (1) hose is necessary, replace the other side as well.
