Cruise Control Standby Lamp - Above Limit
Function
The cruise control system can be switched on and off by means of a switch. For the driver s information, a pilot light indicates when the cruise control system is switched on.
Short circuit to ground and open circuit are detected when the output stage is blocked, short to B+ when the output stage is conducting.
Diagnosis conditions
- Ignition on

Diagnosis Procedure
Short circuit to B+
Short circuit to ground
Open circuit
1 Check wiring from DME control module, pin IV/18, to instrument cluster, pin I/16, for short to B+.
1. Connect special tool 9637 to wiring harness (DME control module connector).
2. Connect voltmeter to pin IV/18 and ground.
3. Switch on the ignition.
Display: 0 V
If battery voltage is displayed, check wiring harness for chafing and pinching damage.
2 Perform adaptation.
1. Switch on the ignition.
2. Wait one minute.
Do not press the accelerator.
3. Switch off the ignition for at least 10 seconds.
4. Read out the fault memory.
3 Check wiring from DME control module, pin IV/18, to instrument cluster, pin I/16, for short to ground.
1. Connect special tool 9637 to wiring harness (DME control module connector).
2. Connect voltmeter to pin IV/18 and B+.
3. Switch on the ignition.
Display: 0 V
If battery voltage is displayed, check wiring harness for chafing and pinching damage.
4 Check wiring from DME control module, pin IV/18, to instrument cluster, pin I/16, for open circuit.
1. Connect special tool 9637 to wiring harness (DME control module connector).
2. Remove connector I of instrument cluster.
3. Connect ohmmeter to special tool 9637, pin IV/18, and to connector I/16 of instrument cluster.
Display: 0 - 5 ohms
NOTE: The wire is routed via connector X 2/5.
If infinity ohms is displayed, check wiring harness for chafing and pinching damage.
