Tiptronic System G50
P0600CAN timeout - present
CAN bus error - present
Function
The CAN bus is a data transmission system with which several control modules can communicate with each other.
If no CAN signals are exchanged within 200 ms, this is recognized as a fault. The system then activates the "reduced driving programme".
Diagnosis condition
- Battery positive voltage > 10 V
Wiring diagram
Diagnosis procedure
1 Check data lead from Tiptronic control module to ECM for continuity.
1. Remove Tiptronic control module connector.
2. Remove ECM connector.
3. Connect ohmmeter to Tiptronic control module connector pin 85 (or pin 86) and ECM connector pin 85 (or pin 86).
Display: 0 ... 5 Ohms
If Infinite Ohms is displayed, check wiring harness for chafing and pinching damage.
1 Check data lead from Tiptronic control module to ECM for short circuit to ground.
1. Connect ohmmeter to Tiptronic control module connector pin 85 (or pin 86) and ground.
Display: Infinite Ohms
If 0 ... 5 Ohms is displayed, check wiring harness for chafing and pinching damage.
1 Check data lead from Tiptronic control module to ECM for short circuit to B+.
1. Switch on ignition.
2. Connect voltmeter to Tiptronic control module connector pin 85 (or pin 86) and ground.
Display: 0 Volt
If battery positive voltage is displayed, check wiring harness for chafing and pinching damage.
