Concern:
A PCM2 retrofit kit is now available to install the PCM2 navigation unit (option PF1) into Cayenne/S vehicles. This kit can only be installed in vehicles with a CDR 23 radio.
Information:
The new generation of Porsche Communication Management is equipped as follows:
- integrated CD-ROM drive for audio and navigation data
- 6.5 inch TFT screen in 16:9 ratio wide screen for sharp image display
- a completely new design for the navigation unit
- satellite-guided GPS navigation system with integrated antenna for determining location and dynamic calculation of route including alternative routes using TMC (traffic message channel)
- simple querying of available menus per multifunction knob
- integrated radio with FM double tuner
- RDS diversity with 20 UKW as well as 20 MW memory locations.

Warning!
Risk of short circuit and fire - due to work on vehicle electrical system.
> When working on the electrical system, the battery must be disconnected and covered. Always route the electrical leads without tension and so that no chafing occurs, and secure with tie wraps/insulating tape to existing lines/components.

Work Procedure:
1. Preparatory work.
1.1 Disconnect and cover the battery (Technical Manual, Group 9).
1.2 Remove radio (Technical Manual, Group 9, Part ID 9124).
1.3 Remove roof lining (Technical Manual, Group 7, Part ID 7084).
1.4 Remove upper part of rear spoiler (Technical Manual, Group 6, Part ID 6658).
1.5 Remove right cover for fuse box (Technical Manual, Group 7, Part ID 7024).
1.6. Remove glove compartment (Technical Manual, Group 7, Part ID 6815).
1.6. Remove cover under instrument panel on the passengers side (Technical Manual, Group 7, Part ID 7019).
2. Route interior lead for antenna.
2.1 Route interior lead for antenna from holder for plug connection (referred to as "holder below) (B) in rear roof area along the upper roof rail to the PCM2 (A) installation slot and secure with tie wraps.
Note:
If the holder is not present (depending on equipment), clip the holder from the retrofit kit onto the roof.
3. Instal GPS antenna.
3.1 Unscrew screws (A) and remove reinforcement plate (B)
3.2 Unscrew screw (C) from the 3rd brake light.
3.3 Connect rear spoiler antenna lead (referred to as antenna lead below) to the GPS antenna.
3.4 Insert GPS antenna (C) and reinforcement plate (B) and fasten.
Note:
The antenna lead lies in the area (E) under the reinforcement plate.
4. Route the antenna lead.
Note:
If a rubber grommet is not available. remove plugs and use rubber grommet from the retrofit kit.
4.1 Remove left rubber grommet (A) from rear spoiler. Slide rubber grommet over antenna lead.
4.2 Position antenna lead (B) with rubber grommet and secure in position.
4.3 Insert rubber grommet into rear spoiler.
4.4 Open rear hatch and unclip left wiring duct (A).
4.5 Open wiring duct.
4.6 Insert antenna lead (B) into wiring duct and close wiring duct.
4.7 Pull roof rail rubber grommet (A) over antenna lead and affix with insulating tape.
Note:
Distance X (roof rail rubber grommet to plug) = 335 mm. Observe direction of installation.
Important!
If necessary, seal antenna lead and grommet with adhesive compound.
4.8 Remove cover plug from installation opening and insert roof rail rubber grommet (A).
Note:
The roof rail rubber grommet can be coated with lubricant for easier fitting.
4.9 Unclip plug holder (B) from the roof and open.
4.10 Route antenna lead at the side along the rear lid hinge through the plug holder (B) to the holder (C).
4.11 Close plug holder and clip onto roof.
4.12 Plug together plug connection for antenna lead (Figure 008, Item D1 and clip into the plug connection holder.
4.13 Clip to left wiring duct.
5. Complete the PCM2.
5.1 Unlock tabs (arrows) and remove cover (A) from the PCM2.
5.2 Insert navigation module (B) into the right drawer slot of the PCM2.
5.3 Clip cover onto PCM2.
6. Make electrical ground connection (ground loop).
6.1 Connect terminal E14" (ground) to the 8-pin blue plug housing.
6.1.1 Crimp pin to lead BN 0.35 sq. from retrofit Kit Wire length = 150 mm.
6.1.2 Insert pin into the 8-pin blue plug housing
Note:
Ensure that pin is fitted securely.
6.2 Connect terminal AS (ground) to the 8-pin black plug (PCM2).
6.2.1 Pull locking pin (A) from plug housing.
6.2.2 Press out pin of wire BN 2.5 sq. With press-out tool 90006 (B) and disconnect.
6.2.3 Combine wire BN 0.35 sq. from the retrofit kit and wire BN 2.5 sq. (vehicle-side) and crimp with a new pin (C).
6.2.4 Push pin in plug housing.
Note:
Ensure that pin is fitted securely.
6.2.5 Push locking pin in plug housing
7. Complete the vehicle.
7.1 Install glove compartment.
7.2 Install cover under dashboard on the passenger's side
7.3 Insert plug into the PCM2 and install PCM2.
7.4 Install roof lining.
7.5 Install cover for the right fuse box.
7.6 Install upper part of rear spoiler.
7.7 Connect the battery.
8. Program PCM2 with PST2.
8.1 Activate PCM2.
8.2 Read out PCM2 fault memory and erase.
8.3 Match the MOST required installed components list to the actual installed components list.
8.4 Code the PCM2 according to vehicle type, variants, country specific tuner settings and MOST switch.
8.5 Check MOST components.
8.6 Activate navigation in the instrument cluster' control module system.
8.7 After programming is complete, read out the fault memory of all systems, correct any existing faults, and erase the fault memory.

9. Carry out function test.
