1. Remove cardan shaft.
2. Engage parking lock and firmly set the parking brake.
3. Remove collar nut with special tool socket wrench 9669.
4. Pull off cardan flange with three-arm puller 112-1.
5. Lever out the sealing ring with special tool hook VW 681.
Installing sealing ring for cardan flange
1. Replace O-ring for cardan flange.
2. Fill the space between the dust and sealing lips on the sealing ring with grease (e.g. Liqui-Moly) and drive in the sealing ring up to the mounting face using special tool pressure piece 9668.
3. Tighten collar nut and secure by pressing in the collar.
Tightening torque: 160 Nm (118 ft. lbs.)
4. Installing cardan shaft.
