Fault Code 1
Fault Code 1
Switch position implausible
Diagnostic conditions
- Open convertible top completely and close it again
Possible cause of fault
- Short circuit to ground or in the wiring between the microswitches and the control module for the convertible top
- Both microswitches for locking and unlocking motor (closure) are actuated
- Both upper and lower microswitches for right flap (side flap) are actuated
- Both upper and lower microswitches for left flap (side flap) are actuated
- Microswitch (convertible-top compartment lid) faulty
- Convertible top control unit defective
Affected pins
Plug A, pin 3, pin 5, pin 9 pin 19 and pin 20
Plug D, pin 7, pin 8 pin 9 and pin 10
Diagnosis/troubleshooting
CAUTION:
- Risk of damage to convertible top parts and tools due to improperly installed and secured parts and tools
- Attach test adapter with cables and convertible top control unit in the vehicle in such a way that nothing is brushed against or trapped when the convertible top mechanism is opened or closed.
NOTE:
- Before starting the troubleshooting from step 17 to step 39, connect special tool 45-pin test adapter 9636 to the convertible- top control unit in such a way that the convertible top can be opened and closed completely while the tool is attached. The 88-pin test adapter cable 9616 and convertible-top control unit must be accessible in the passenger compartment.
- To do this, remove the panelling behind the rear seat backrests and guide the cable for the 45-pin test adapter 9636 and the control unit for the convertible top through the centre of the auxiliary frame for the roll-over protection strap into the passenger compartment. The 45-pin test adapter 9636 can be connected in place of the convertible-top control unit while the convertible-top control unit is attached in the passenger compartment.
- After a fault has been rectified, the following steps must be carried out.
- the electrical connections need to be restored.
- the fault memory must be cleared.
- the diagnostic conditions must be met.
- the fault memory must be read out again.
- and, if necessary, any new fault that should occur must be located and rectified.
