Removing And Installing Display And Operator Control Unit (PCM 2), - As Of MY 2003

Removing display and operator control unit (PCM 2)

NOTE:
- When the PCM is replaced by a new or different PCM, read out the data using the Porsche System Tester before removing it.
- The PCM has an optical waveguide. For information on optical waveguides:
- Switch ignition off and remove ignition key.

1. Unclip the switch cover from below with a plastic spatula and unplug the electrical plug connections at the switches.







2. Insert an Allen wrench sideways into the bolts of the locking hooks of the PCM.







3. Using the Allen wrench, close the locking elements (2 x per side) -A- and carefully pull out the PCM.
4. For refitting, open the locking elements with the Allen wrench -B-.

NOTE:
- Depeding on the I No. (CD changer, Bose, amplifier) the number of plug connections varies.
- The version without additional audio components (external Most control units) has a jumper (output goes to input) plugged in for optical waveguide connectors.

5. Release and remove antenna plug -A, E, F-.







6. Release and unplug the electrical the plug connections in the order -C, B, D-.

Installing display and operator control unit (PCM 2)

NOTE:
- If a new PCM is installed, the navigation module from the old PCM is removed and installed in the new PCM.
- If the old PCM is installed again, start at step 6.

1. Before the new PCM is installed, release and unplug the protective plug -A- for the optical waveguide.







2. Unclip the cover on the new and old PCM.




3. Lever out the navigation module carefully using a screwdriver on the removed PCM.







4. Push navigation module into the PCM to be installed.







5. Position the cover and clip it in.







6. Connect the electrical plug connections of the display and operator control unit in the order -D, B, A- and the antenna plug -A, E, F-, until the plug engages audibly.

7. Check if the locking tabs on the PCM protrude -arrow-, and if so, open the locking with an Allen wrench.







NOTE: Before the PCM is inserted into the installation slot, it must be ensured that the electrical lines are not squeezed and damaged by the PCM.

8. Push the PCM into the installation slot until the locking elements on the PCM housing engage.
9. Plug in the electrical plug connections on the switch cover.







10. Mount the switch cover and press in until it clicks into place.

NOTE: After installation of a new display and operator control unit, the system must be activated with the Porsche System Tester:
